General Pricing
Can I try before I buy?
You bet! Try any of our plans free through our 7-day free trial, no credit card required. Sign up here to get started.
Does your pricing cover machine costs?
Our Dedicated Hosting plans cover machine cost, as well as your disk and network costs. Up to 5 backups are included per deployment, with additional backups available for a fee. The Bring Your Own Cloud plans are management-only and connect to your existing cloud account so you pay for those costs with your cloud provider.
Learn more about the differences between plans in our Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) vs. Dedicated Hosting at ScaleGrid article.
Is pricing prorated by hour or month?
Our Dedicated Hosting and BYOC pricing is prorated by the hour, and billed monthly. So, you would have 720 hours in a 30-day month, and 744 in a 31-day month. Shared Hosting pricing is not prorated, but billed for the highest usage per GB per month.
Do I have to pay for data transfer when migrating to ScaleGrid?
Our Dedicated Hosting and Shared Hosting plans include all of your data transfer costs. If you're transferring to one of our Bring Your Own Cloud plans, standard transfer rights apply from your cloud provider. Check out data transfer pricing for AWS, Azure, OCI and GCP.
How does your pricing compare to competitors?
We offer the most competitive pricing on the market for both our Dedicated Hosting and Shared Hosting plans. Our plans average around 30% less expensive than our competitors, and include almost twice the number features. We also offer Bring Your Own Cloud plans that allow you to host in your own cloud account so you can save up to 75% on long-term hosting costs, and none of our competitors offers this advantage. Check out these pages to compare our features for MongoDB, Redis™*, MySQL, and PostgreSQL vs. competitors.
Will my pricing change every month?
Your pricing is based on usage, so it might fluctuate based on whether you've scaled up or down a month, or if the month has more or less days than the previous month.
Do I have to pay for additional users?
Nope! Add as many users as you'd like through the Settings page on our Console.
Am I signing up for a long-term contract?
All of our plans are on a month-to-month basis, and you can cancel at any time!
We have multiple independent divisions in our organization, can we operate these under one plan?
Absolutely! Get in touch with a [email protected] for help on getting set up.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit card and debit card providers, and can also accept ACH transfers. Prepaid cards may not be used. Learn more on our Billing Info page.
What if I start a plan in the middle of a month?
Don't worry, we'll prorate you for only the time after you've signed up. You won't pay for any of the days in that month before you signed up, or for your trial period.
Do I have to pay for support?
At ScaleGrid we have a few different support plans. Our Starter plan is included with both our Dedicated Hosting and BYOC plans. Check out our pricing page for more information on what's included. Support plans for our Enterprise solutions are also available by request at [email protected].
Should I expect any add-on costs?
You can expect additional costs on our Bring Your Own Cloud plan, and that's for your regular hosting expenses through your connected cloud provider. All of our plans include services you would usually pay more for, database upgrades, log rotations and OS patching.
ScaleGrid offers up to five backups per deployment on ScaleGrid’s dedicated hosting plans. Please contact ScaleGrid if you wish to generate additional rolling and ad hoc backups. Additional backups are available for an additional fee.
I'm completely sold, but I need to convince my boss. Can you help me?
Absolutely! Get in touch with us at [email protected] and we can set up a time to connect and make sure you have the information you need to provide to your team.
Can I use AWS, Azure, OCI or GCP hosting credits?
You can use hosting credits on our Bring Your Own Cloud plans, as you're hosting through your own cloud account.
What currency am I billed in?
All accounts are billed in USD.
Shared Hosting Pricing
Shared Hosting is no longer supported for new customer signups.
Are there any data transfer charges?
No. Easily transfer your data to ScaleGrid for free on our MongoDB Shared Hosting plans.
Can I access the Oplog?
Yes. We do support Oplog tailing. Once your MongoDB cluster is up and running you can create a new user for Oplog tailing.
cluster:PRIMARY> db.createUser({user: "oplogger", pwd: "PasswordForOplogger", roles: [{role: "read", db: "local"}]})
You can find more detailed steps on accessing the Oplog here. Also note, the Oplog tailing is for replica sets only, not standalone.
Does Shared Hosting include the size of the Oplog database?
Data size is measured only for your custom databases - system databases like Oplog are not used to compute the size.
Are there additional charges other than the $10/GB/month cost?
No. Our MongoDB Shared Hosting plans are all-inclusive and include 100% of your network, disk, and machine costs.
How does Shared automatic scaling work?
The system will automatically scale as your data size, or size on disk, increases. No further action is needed on your part. Shared Hosting plans do not scale based on RAM, and the RAM allocated is 1/10 of the data on disk. You start with a minimum of 200MB RAM, and if your data on disk scales to 3GB, then your RAM will increase automatically to 300MB. At this point, you cannot change the RAM independently. If you wish to have more control over your RAM allocation, you can use the Dedicated Hosting model.
How does Shared Hosting billing work?
Our Shared Hosting plans are priced by the GB and billed for that month's highest usage. Due to the small data sizes supported under this plan, we charge a flat monthly fee, irrespective of the number of hours deployed. Shared Hosting pricing is not prorated.
How do you calculate the number of GBs for Shared Cluster pricing?
Shared Hosting pricing is calculated by the GB and charged for the month's highest usage. You can find your current GB usage under "Resource Usage" on the Overview tab of your MongoDB cluster details page. This number is rounded up to the next GB, with a minimum of 2GB per month. To see a breakdown of your data size, go to the Databases tab of your MongoDB cluster details page and add up the amounts from the "File size" and "Index size" columns (excluding the "local" and "admin" databases).
